Suspects Detained in Traffic Stop

INN news has been monitoring police traffic during this morning’s emergency. We have learned that police officers in Chicago have pulled over a car with individuals of Middle Eastern descent as part a routine traffic stop. Apparently, FBI agents are now questioning the men. INN News would caution its listeners not to take action against individuals based on their ethnic descent.

President Addresses Nation

The President of the United States confirmed national, state and local
coordination regarding the current terrorist attack event in Indianapolis,
Indiana. The President reassured the press and citizens that recovery of
the citizens is the main concern. The responsible party of the terrorist
attack has not been confirmed and links to foreign entities has not been
established. As far as investigation information has been received, the
President, Governor of Indiana and Mayor of Indianapolis believe this is an
isolated incident. Evacuation procedures have been effective. Secruity
personnel including local law enfocement, Indiana State Police, the FBI and
the National Guard are coordinating to investigate and assess the
situation. Further information will be updated as it come to the Office of
Indianapolis.

President Has Had a Heart Attack

It has just been reported that the President has suffered a massive heart attack. We are currently waiting for more information from doctors. The Vice President has taken over the duties of the president for the time being.

Car Explosion was a Terrorist Attack

The Mayor's Office has confirmed that the car explosion by Conseco
Fieldhouse at 9:30 am is a terrorist attack. Current investigation by the
FBI is underweigh to determine who has committed this attack, whether
domestic or foreign. Coordination with the Indianapolis State Police is
working onsite to investigate the situation with the FBI. Two triage sites
have been setup at Meridian and Georgia Streets and the State Fairgrounds.
Currently there are 38 fatalities and 15 injuries reported. Medical
examiners and mental health specialists have been disemminated by Red Cross
to both triage sites. As soon as the terrorist organization is confirmed,

Confirmed Explosion at Train Derailment Site

We are back with an update from the scene of the train derailment. We have confirmed that an explosion has occurred at the scene. At least two cars came off the tracks and one of them caught fire, producing a toxic cloud that has begun to envelope the area immediately east of the explosion site. We have been unable to confirm exactly what substance produced the toxic cloud and the level of danger that the substance poses to area residences. Until we receive further information, we are urging residents to remain calm and not to try to leave the city. It is important that the roads remain clear for emergency vehicles.

Press Secretary confirms President is in good health

The White House Press Secretary saying that the President is in good health and did not leave the White House in an ambulance. Press Secretary also denying claims that the Vice PResident has taken over command. The President is due to give a press conference sometime this morning.

FBI AGENTS TRACKING HEZBOLLAH CELL

An INN confidential source has reported to us that FBI agents in Indianapolis are tracking members of a Hezbollah cell that has reportedly been operating in Indianapolis for the past four months. According to unconfirmed reports, several men have been seen photographing downtown sites and had been under FBI surveillance for the past three weeks.

Unconfirmed reports that the President of the United States has suffered a heart attack. An ambulance was seen leaving the White House with Secret Service protection following.

FANS CONTINUE TO FLOCK DOWNTOWN

Regardless of the possible health hazard posed by the chlorine leak, fans continue to flock into the downtown area. In addition to the backups on I-65 reported earlier, now I-70 is beginning to back up in both directions. It is unknown at this time, exactly how far the chlorine gas has spread and at what range the gas may cause health injuries. With walk in patients complaining of burning symptoms continuing to flood the emergency rooms, one can only wonder what impact the traveling gas plume may have on fans entering the city.

FBI Bomb Units arrive at Conseco

A bomb investigation team from the FBI has arrived at the scene of the Conseco Explosion and claimed jurisdiction over the scene as a “terrorist crime scene” under the PATRIOT ACT. There have been unconfirmed reports of a scuffle between IMPD officers who were already working the scene when the FBI arrived and asserted Federal Jurisdiction. One anonymous IMPD officer stated that an FBI agent had threatened to arrest her for providing material support to a terrorist group is she did not leave the explosion site.

Hezbollah Claims Responsibility for Attack

Various national media networks, citing anonymous sources, are claiming that the terrorist group Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the downtown explosion in Indianapolis. Hezbollah is a Shi’a Muslim militant group, as well as a political party, based in Lebanon. The group receives funding from Iran as well as support from Syria. The U.S. government has branded Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. If this report is true, it would not be the first time that the organization has attacked US interests. In 1983, militants who went on to become members of Hezbollah are thought to have planned a suicide bombing attack that killed 241 US marines in Beirut, leading President Reagan to withdraw the Marines from Lebanon.

Downtown Explosion Update

INN sources at the scene have been told by first responders that there are at least four fatalities so far as well as dozens of individuals with life-threatening injuries in the vicinity of Meridian and Georgia streets. Law enforcement officials have begun to cordon off a several block area surrounding the explosion.

Indiana under local Emergency Evacuation

The Mayor's Office has announced downtown Indianapolis under a local
disaster emergency pursuant to IC 10-14-3-29. The National Broadcast System
is advised to make an announcement via radio and television advising that
citizens should not be in the area and to evacuate immediately. Do not,
under any circumstances, allow people within the 4-mile radius of the
affected area. State FEMA has confirmed that water and medical supplies are
on hand. Emergency contact line is 317.555.1234.




October 28, 2011 -- 9:41 a.m.

Evacuation Order for Indianapolis

Indianapolis Mayor's Office held a press conference at 9:00 am confirming a
chlorine spill in downtown Indianapolis near Conseco caused by the 8:10 am
train derailment. The Mayor's Office is working with the Governor's Office
to coordinate with surrounding counties to have resources on stand by. The
Mayor's Office has coordinated with Indy-Go to evacuate the area in a 4-mile
radius. Buses are moving people from the area and several buses and cabs
are on standby for further evacuation. The Governor's Office has
implemented the State Police to keep citizens from entering the city by
setting up locations along I-465. If you are in the area, please make your
way out of the 4-mile radius surrounding Conseco. Due to the current
assessment of chlorine spill, all residents who receive water from wells are
asked to refrain from consuming. Tap water is OK to drink. If you have an

Downtown Explosion

Moments ago, officers from both the IMPD and the IFD were dispatched to the report of an explosion in the downtown area. It is unknown at this time what caused the explosion and whether there have been any injuries. Information is sketchy at this point but we believe that the explosion occurred at the intersection of Meridian and Georgia streets. We have been unable to confirm whether the IMPD’s bomb explosion unit has been dispatched. We will be back on the air with updates on the explosion as soon as further information becomes available.

City of Indianapolis Water shutdown

The Mayor's office has issued a water shutdown for downtown Indianapolis.  Due to an rearly morning train derailment and spill of chlorine in the area.

SEVERE WINTER STORM WATCH

The National Weather Service reports indicate a strong winter storm is headed towards Indiana. Areas from Princeton to Columbus to Richmond and south can expect freezing rain accumulating up to one inch. North of the freezing rain band is expected to get snow ranging from 4-14 inches of accumulation with the most snow fall occurring north of I-70. Precipitation is expected to begin in the western part of the state beginning around 5:00 p.m. and reaching Indianapolis at 6:30 pm.

First Responders at the Scene of the Train Derailment

First responders are reportedly having difficulty reaching the site of the train derailment as traffic in the downtown area is backed up on Washington Street from the derailment site to Tibbs Avenue. Police dispatchers and Battalion Chiefs are working frantically to reroute additional responding units. Mark Nixon, a retired employee of the Indianapolis Public Works Department who happened to be walking by the site, told an INN reporter that Indianapolis has not experienced such a significant chemical incident during the past 30 years. According to Mr. Nixon, the casualties could “easily run into the hundreds.”

Chlorine Release Reported from Train Derailment

Problems continue to mount at the site of the Train Derailment. The hazardous materials team incident commander is reporting that approximately 9,000 gallons of chlorine has been released from two of the overturned cars. While officials have appeared to have plugged the leak in one of the cars, the other tanker car is continuing to release chlorine at 1,000 gpm. Chlorine gas leaks typically necessitate an evacuation of area residents.

Area Hospitals handling Derailment Victims

Dozens of people who live or work in the vicinity of the train derailment have begun to seek treatment from Wishard and Methodist Hospitals. According to hospital officials, the individuals are reported to have difficulty breathing and are complaining of burning eyes, nose, throats, and lungs. Both Wishard and Methodist are already diverting non-derailment cases to other hospitals.

Train Derailment

As WISH-TV first reported minutes ago, a train has derailed approximately 1.5 miles west of Lucas Oil Stadium on the main CONRAIL line west of Harding Street. We have unconfirmed reports that a railroad tanker car, possibly containing toxic substances, was among the cars that derailed. If true, the release of a toxic substance downwind of Lucas Oil Stadium, could create massive problems for the folks at the stadium who are bracing for the arrival of the Super Bowl crowed later today. We have a reporter headed to the scene as we speak and we will provide updates as soon as they are available.

Traffic Report

Even though the Super Bowl is hours away, traffic heading inbound is very heavy this morning as fans head downtown to participate in the days activities leading up to the Super Bowl. Traffic on I-65 South is backed up from the Kessler Drive exit south through to several downtown exits. Officers in the downtown area are on the scene directing traffic. Indy’s lack of an adequate mass transit plan is causing the city difficulties today.

Super Bowl Announcement

With the Super Bowl kick-off set to begin in a number of hours, the Indianapolis Colts and the Green Bay Packers are going through their final pre-game preparations. At the final pre-game news conference, the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which is awarded to the winner of the Super Bowl, was shown. With 70,000 tickets sold for the game and an extra 100,000 spectators expected in the downtown area at game time, the city will face a massive transportation challenge that will require the maximum involvement of the private charter bus, taxi and limo industries to reduce the need for parking near the stadium. The city has deployed over 10,000 volunteers this week to assist visitors here to share in the excitement of the Super Bowl. We will have more last minute injury reports from the two Super Bowl Teams as we approach game time.
