The Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) are co-sponsoring a counter-terrorism simulation exercise on Friday, October 23rd, 2009. This simulation, involving students in the fields of law and public policy, will allow participants from the two programs to work side by side with local and state government officials to respond to a simulated National counter-terrorism threat.
- Members of the public can visit this site during the simulation and watch the participants as they work through the simulation.
- Members of the public as well as the participants will receive information from live newsfeeds detailing events as they unfold.
- The participants, who will be acting in assigned roles, which run the gamut from President to intelligence operatives in the field, will make decisions under pressure while receiving conflicting and sometimes incomplete intelligence information.
- The event will help prepare students to assume leadership positions in both the governmental and private sectors as they gain experience making operational decisions within the framework of the law.
- This simulation will allow its participants to receive feedback from individuals with real-world experience working in the field of counter-terrorism.
This simulation and workshop build on the law school’s strong reputation and leadership in preparing law students to enter positions of leadership in the national and local communities, as well as SPEA’s nationally-recognized graduate program. Counter-Terrorism Simulation events will begin with the Keynote Address to be given on the evening of Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 and end with panel discussions on Friday, October 23rd, 2009.
