Environmental Law Symposium
"Great Lakes Natural Resource Governance"
Friday, March 1, 2013
For more than 100 years, the Great Lakes freshwater system (estimated to be 20% of all fresh water on the planet) has been part of a complex orchestration of legal and institutional arrangements among the two countries, eight states, and one province that border the lakes. Legal frameworks have been constantly tested and periodically updated to respond to evolving uses, changing values, and new challenges to the conservation and management of the Great Lakes.
IU’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law’s Sixth Annual Spring Environmental Symposium will focus on the legal challenges and agreements designed to meet the challenges of governing this resource.
