Bio

Jonna Kane MacDougall joined the law school administration in February of 1990 as assistant dean for external affairs and director of career services. During the 1993-94 academic year, she also served as the acting assistant dean for student affairs. In 2006, she was named assistant dean for institutional advancement, and in 2010 was appointed assistant dean for external affairs and alumni relations. During her more than 20-year tenure at the school, she has been involved in handling fund raising and donor relations, alumni programs, special events, marketing, public relations, media relations, publications, continuing legal education, career services and student affairs.

Dean MacDougall’s prior experience includes several years in teaching, public relations, advertising, and higher education administration. Formerly executive director of a state scholastic press association, she was an assistant professor of journalism at the Pulliam School of Journalism at Franklin College, where she taught media law and ethics. She also has served as an adjunct professor at the IU School of Journalism on the IUPUI campus. Dean MacDougall served as Interim Assistant Dean for Student affairs during the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years.

Dean MacDougall is a past president and board member of the Indiana chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, a past president and former executive director of the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame, and co-founder and past president of Outrun the Sun, Inc. a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to combat metastatic melanoma and to raising awareness of the risks for skin cancer.
