Campaign advisers to U.S. Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign will talk to students at IUPUI Wednesday about Obama’s plans to create green jobs, ensure energy security and fight for clean air and water.
Environmental Law Students at Indiana University’s Law School in Indianapolis will host Obama advisers Cameron Davis and Jack Darin at IUPUI’s new Campus Center. They will be joined by State Representative and Chair of the Indiana House Environmental Affairs Committee Ryan Dvorak. Professor Eric Dannenmaier, who teaches environmental law at IU’s Law School, will moderate.
Davis, who is the president and CEO of the Alliance for the Great Lakes*, and Darin, an influential environmental leader in Illinois who worked with Obama when he was a state senator, have been long-time advisors to Obama and his campaign on environmental and energy issues, and they know his deep concern for finding the right balance in this vital policy area.

Background on Speakers
Cameron Davis is President and CEO of the Alliance for the Great Lakes.* He is a nationally-recognized expert on water quantity and quality issues and served as a policy advocate and litigator with the National Wildlife Federation while serving as adjunct clinical assistant professor of law at the University of Michigan Law School. Cam also served with the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi, Kenya, and U.S. EPA’s Office of Regional Counsel in Chicago.
Jack Darin has worked in the environmental movement since 1989 and has worked cooperatively with a wide range of stakeholders to clean up pollution, protect natural areas for future generations, and to promote smart energy policies. He has been appointed to numerous study, advisory, and working groups and task forces by various public agencies seeking to craft strategies to protect the environment.
Ryan Dvorak represents Indiana’s 8th House District in St. Joseph County, Indiana. Ryan was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in 2002. He became chairman of the Committee on Courts and Criminal Code in 2003. Currently, Representative Dvorak serves as chairman of the Environmental Affairs Committee, and serves as a member of the Commerce, Energy, and Utilities Committee, the Courts and Criminal Code Committee, and the Judiciary Committee.
Ryan is also a 2008 J.D. candidate from the Indiana University School of Law–Indianapolis.

Moderator Eric Dannenmaier is a Professor of Law at Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis.* He is an expert in environmental law and policy, widely published on issues including environmental democracy, trade and the environment, and climate change. He is the former Director of the Tulane Institute for Environmental Law & Policy in New Orleans and a former Legal Advisor to the US Agency for International Development.
