Indianapolis - Heart of Indiana, Crossroads of America
Intersected by more interstate highways than any other city, Indianapolis is known as "The Crossroads of America." It is within one day's drive from many other major American cities. Because it is centrally located, Indianapolis is only one or two hours by air from New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver and other cities in the East, South and Midwest. With a population of nearly one million, Indianapolis is a diverse city that is also one of the safest, cleanest and most affordable places to visit and live.
Inlow Hall is the campus gateway to the city. From its two-story, glass enclosed law library Reading Room, the sparkling skyline of Indianapolis beckons. Explore the city, just blocks away, and discover a lively downtown with a variety of cultural, entertainment and shopping venues.
The thriving arts scene in Indianapolis includes the Indiana Repertory Theatre, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. The city also is home to the world's largest Children's Museum. The two largest single-day sporting events in the world - the Indianapolis 500 and the Brickyard 400 - are hosted by the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which has added the Formula One United States Grand Prix to its annual schedule. Indianapolis also has professional sports teams, including men's and women's basketball, football, hockey, soccer and baseball. You can stay physically fit in on-campus sports and fitness facilities, or on the miles of river and canal-side biking, running, and walking paths that meander near the IUPUI campus and throughout the city.
