Facility & Equipment
Location
The Ruth Lilly Law Library is located within a short distance of
several other major research facilities. These include the Indiana
University Medical Center Libraries, the Indiana University Purdue
University Indianapolis (IUPUI) University Library, the Indianapolis
Marion County Public Library, and the state of Indiana government
buildings complex, which includes the Indiana Supreme Court Library and
the Indiana State Library.
Study Rooms
Library Study Rooms have been dedicated for group study. Groups of students may reserve a study room using the online reservation system.
Carrels
Library books are reshelved throughout the day. The reshelving policy
applies to all types of material left in carrels or on tables. Due to
the need to make materials available for as many users as possible,
"save" signs or "do not reshelve" signs cannot be honored. If you must
leave the library for a short period of time (two hours or less) and
will be using the books immediately upon your return, you may leave a
note on the books stating the present time and the notation "Back in
less than 2 hours."
Computers Labs
Inlow Hall has three computer labs with a total of 76 desktop computers for student use. Room 235E (40 computers) can be entered from the classroom wing on the second floor. Rooms 235D (20 computers) and 235G (16 computers) can be entered from the second floor of the library. All of the computers are running Windows 7 and require that you log in with your university computer network class and password. Computers are available for use by faculty and
students. Software available on the network includes word processing,
Internet Browsers, Lexis and Westlaw access (for those with a valid
password) and programmed legal exercises produced under the auspices of
the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI).
The law library's contract restricts access to Westlaw, Lexis and other licensed products to use by law school students and law faculty. The law library's contract also restricts research on Lexis and Westlaw to matters
relating directly to work for a law school class, and may not be used
for any other purpose, including without limitation, research conducted
for an employer or for personal business.
Hal Woodard Barristers' Room
To assist Members of the Bar researching and using Law
Library materials, the Law Library offers the use of the Woodard Barristers Room. The Woodard Room is reserved
exclusively for Members of the Bar and requires those wishing to use the room
to register at the Circulation Desk.
When registering, attorneys must present identification demonstrating
admission to the bar. The Woodard Room
is not available for client interviews, depositions, or client meetings and is
available on a first-come first-serve basis.
All users of the Woodard Room must abide by the general
rules and policies of the Law Library. The Law Library is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
