Summer Internship Program
Since 1997 the Program in International Human Rights Law (PIHRL) has facilitated one hundred and ten (110) internship placements for seventy-five (75) students in more than fifty (50) countries around the world. From the "untouchable castes" in Nepal to the displaced Roma of Europe; from refugee camps in the Czech Republic to the streets of orphan children in Costa Rica; from the Office of the Attorney General of Rwanda to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights at the United Nations in Geneva, our students have made, and continue to make, valuable contributions to their host communities around the globe.
PIHRL internships provide students with invaluable opportunities to learn about Human Rights Laws and gain rewarding experiences out in the field. Students who are selected to participate in the Human Rights Summer Internship Program earn four (4) credit hours. These credits may be applied toward their J.D. credit requirements for graduation. Although no specific scholarship amount is guaranteed, interns in the past have received scholarships to be used for air fare, housing, food, passport, and visa fees. Scholarship amounts for these purposes have been up to $5,000 per student.
