Featuring Keynote Speaker Margaret Burt,
JD
Margaret A. Burt is an attorney in private practice in Rochester
, New York . She has specialized for over 20 years in representing
children, adults and child welfare agencies in trial court and appellate
practice. A substantial amount of her practice involves consulting
and training for lawyers, judges, caseworkers and service providers
across the country in the areas of child abuse and neglect, permanency
for foster children, the termination of parental rights, adoptions
and trial techniques. She provides national and local training on
such issues as the Adoption and Safe Families Act, the Indian Child
Welfare Act, the Multi-Ethnic Placement Act, confidentiality, the
representation of children and trial techniques. She also consults
on legislation connected to child welfare issues.
Accreditation:
The Indiana University School of Medicine is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide
continuing medical education for physicians. Credit: The
Indiana University School of Medicine designates this educational
activity for a maximum of 5.25 hours of Category 1 credit towards
the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim
only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational
activity. Disclosure: In accordance with the AccreditationCouncil
for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Standards for Commercial
Support, educational programs sponsored by Indiana University School
of Medicine (IUSM) must demonstrate balance, independence, objectivity,
and scientific rigor. All faculty, authors, editors, and planning
committee members participating in an IUSM-sponsored activity are

Commercial Support : This CME activity does not
have any commercial support.
Continuing Education:
The conference has been approved for 6.25 CME for medical personnel.
It is also approved for CEU continuing education for psychologists,
social workers, and marriage and family therapists on an hour-for-hour
basis. The conference has been approved for 3 CRU for school personnel
and for 3.5 hours of CLE credit.

to IU School of Law-Indianapolis. Registrations must be received
by June 8, 2005.
Families of children with special needs may qualify for limited
reimbursement of conference expenses. For information, please contact

prior notice for requests if possible.
