Interim Dean
Susanah M. Mead

The Center for Intellectual Property Law and Innovation was established in 2004 as a resource for education and research in intellectual property law—particularly as it applies to the life sciences. The Center is focused upon producing graduates in law with a strong knowledge of intellectual property law, a solid foundation in business development, and sound transactional skills in all matters relating to intellectual property.

By developing courses and providing instruction in intellectual property law and related transactional areas, the Center is intent upon making a significant contribution to the development and protection of innovation. It serves as a resource for government, businesses, and law firms and is designed to enhance opportunities both for students and intellectual property professionals as well. The Center offers a track in Intellectual Property Law as part of the school's LL.M. degree program and assists in a broad spectrum of applied research initiatives, collaborating with partners at IU as well as with other national and international intellectual property institutes and centers.
