The Health Law Society (HLS) provides an opportunity for students interested in health law to convene and engage in activities to promote their common interests. HLS organizes seminars on health law topics and co-sponsors the annual Health Law Colloquium with the Center for Law and Health. 2007-2008

Dear Fellow Students:

On behalf of the entire Health Law Society, I would like to welcome you to our website! Our main goal within HLS is to provide education, real world experience and professional insight into the Health Law industry. For those students who have already set their sights on a career in Health Law, and for those who are still searching for their perfect professional fit, the HLS serves as a connection between law school and the Health Law field in and around Indianapolis.

This semester will provide students the opportunity to participate in several activities at the law school and the surrounding community- all aimed toward providing students with experiences that are unique and helpful in determining where their interests lie with Health Law. Some of the upcoming events for the Spring 2008 semester include:

• Health Law Society Speaker: Mr. Alex Azar, Senior Vice President of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Eli Lilly Company, February 19, 2008.
• Service project to local health clinic or hospital.
• Annual Health Law Society Alumni Reception co-sponsored by the Indianapolis Bar Association – Health Law Section.

To all students, we would like to extend our invitation to join the HLS and to see and experience what we have to offer each other and the community. To returning students, we would like to encourage you to become more involved with the HLS and to contribute, once again, to the collective goals that we have already been working to accomplish.

You can find the HLS office within the Center for Law and Health on the first floor of the law library in Inlow Hall. The Center for Law and Health, which offers the law school's Health Law Concentration, is under the leadership of Professors Eleanor Kinney and David Orentlicher, and is responsible for our school's national reputation as a health law leader. Please feel free to stop by and learn more about the Center and our Health Law Program.

Look for postings and e-mails regarding the next HLS meeting, and come out and join us as we strive to bridge the gap between law school and real world Health Law experience!
