Center Faculty
In addition to Professors Kinney and Orentlicher, the Center's Co-Directors, several other full-time and adjunct faculty teach in the school's health law program,
including the following full-time faculty:
Cynthia A. Baker, Director of the Program on Law and State Government, is faculty advisor for several health law internships through the
Program on Law and State Government. These include internships with
the Indiana Department of Insurance (Consumer Protection Unit), State Department of Health, Attorney General's Office (Medicaid Fraud Unit and Medical Licensing Unit),
and Family and Social Services Administration.
Jennifer A. Drobac
teaches a bioethics course that examines ethical, legal, and policy issues surrounding the AIDS pandemic. Her scholarly work has been published in a variety of law reviews and journals, and she recently finished her first textbook, Sexual Harassment Law: History, Cases and Theory. Professor Drobac serves on the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Board of Trustees.
Barbara J. Evans, is Director of the Pharmacogenomics, Ethics, and Public Policy Program at the Indiana University Center for Bioethics and an adjunct professor of law. Prior to joining the IU Center on Bioethics, she was an economist at the World Bank and later a partner in the in the Moscow office of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae. She also was of-counsel with the Indianapolis law firm of Baker and Daniels.
Robert A. Katz
holds a joint appointment with the law school and the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy at IUPUI
and is a member of the Affiliate Faculty of the Indiana University Center for Bioethics. He teaches
courses on the law of nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations and business and legal aspects of health care
organizations. His research interests include legal issues relating to the
nonprofit sector, charitable giving, and the donation and processing of human tissue for use in transplantation.
Andrew R. Klein, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Paul E. Beam Professor of Law,
previously served as Professor of Health Care Organizations and Policy at the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Public Health. He brought his public health background to the law school's Public Health Law program. Professor Klein is an active scholar in the area of toxic and environmental torts.
Joanne Orr, Clinical Professor of Law, is Director of the
the law school's Disability Clinic. In this clinic, student interns represent persons with physical and mental disabilities.
Lawrence P. Wilkins, William R. Neale Professor of Law, teaches medical malpractice law, torts, and remedies, among other courses. He is a long-standing member of the Institutional Review Board for IUPUI.
