Each of the panelists persuaded their law faculty to move legal writing instructors to tenure track. Two of the panelists are now deans of their respective law schools, the only deans in the country, to my knowledge, who have risen from the ranks of legal writing. Each will recount the approaches they took to achieve tenure-track status for legal writing instructors, discuss strategies that others might employ to reach similar results, and examine ways in which individual instructors might improve their own work environment.
