Portrait of a Writing Specialist

At every LWI conference I have attended, someone asks me: "How can my school get one of you?" As the Writing Specialist at Roger Williams University School of Law, I routinely answer questions from law schools about the role of the Writing Specialist. The poster, entitled "Portrait of a Writing Specialist" will paint a portrait of a Writing Specialist: to showcase this unique position; to highlight the experience and expertise, particularly in the areas of writing process (especially revision) and grammar; to explain the core work of a Writing Specialist, such as one-on-one tutorial and writing workshops; to point out the relationship to legal writing faculty; and to give anecdotal evidence of the difference a Writing Specialist has made in the success of law students. Additionally, this portrait will give law schools without a Writing Specialist encouragement to consider hiring one.
